Making the White House a Home
In the White House, Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter worked to make their family's
life as normal as possible. They enrolled their daughter Amy in public school,
helped with her lessons, and welcomed her friends to play.
Sons Jack, Jeff, and Chip also visited frequently with their families. Together
they enjoyed movies, music, the swimming pool and bowling alley, the gardens,
and the roof-top view. With children and grandchildren, the Carters shared
a White House that always sparkled with the laughter and activities of the
young.
