Attention Researchers: Please visit our Research page for information, including current operating status.

If our status is OPEN: On-site research visits are by appointment only (no walk-ins) and require an advance virtual consultation. To request a consultation, select “Ask An Archivist” and for Subject, enter: “Consultation Request - Last Name.” In the message, include a brief description of your topic, records you are seeking, and any contact/availability information.

If our status is CLOSED: We will not be able to schedule you in the interim. We encourage you to consider how we might support your research virtually and to reach out with any questions.

If you would like to contact the President and Mrs. Carter or the Carter Center staff, please visit the Carter Center web site.

Please note that the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum does not appraise nor authenticate historical materials, artwork, or political memorabilia. For information about appraisals and appraiser referrals, you may check the websites for the American Society of Appraisers, the Appraisers Association of America, and the International Society of Appraisers.

Ask an Archivist
The archival staff can provide information about Library holdings, copies of specific documents, and answers to questions. Staff members cannot conduct in-depth research, select specific items for duplication (i.e. make value judgments about what to copy or not copy,) or review manuscripts.

Please contact the archival staff if you need assistance with research or for any other questions or if you would like to provide any feedback about your experience.

Ask a Museum Curator
The museum curator can answer questions about the museum collection and exhibition of the Jimmy Carter Library. The curator cannot conduct in-depth research or make valuation or appraisal recommendations about Carter-related materials.

Ask an Education Specialist
Most answers to questions about school tours and programs, curriculum materials, and teacher resources can be found under Education. If you have questions for a school report, there are many resources, including biographies of President and Mrs. Carter on our website.
