Education

As a unit of the National Archives and Records Administration, our mission is to drive openness, cultivate public participation, and strengthen our nation’s democracy through public access to high-value government records. We accomplish this through analysis of the American Presidency through the lens of the holdings of the Carter Library and National Archives. Our School Tours and Programs immerse students in the relevance of American Civics to their own lives, while engaging them in the tools of citizenship. To support educators, our Teacher Resources reflect the diversity of our “beautiful mosaic” and provide opportunities for dialogue about primary sources and how they connect with events unfolding in our lives today. We also offer Professional Development rooted in current best practices that are flexible to meet the needs of continuing education.
