The material in this collection consists of correspondence, memoranda, notes, speeches, news clippings, transcripts, audio tapes, and published documents. The material relates to George Moffett’s research files for his dissertation and book on the ratification of the Panama Canal Treaties. In addition to typical research notes and materials, this collection includes material from his Committee of Americans for the Canal Treaties (COACT) office files; White House memoranda made available to him during his service in Hamilton Jordan’s Chief of Staff Office; and published hearings on the Canal Treaties before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
