Morefield, Richard

The material in this collection consists of material relating to the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis in which Richard Morefield was one of the 52 U.S. captives who were held for 444 days. The collection contains correspondence, including letters to and from Richard and Dorothea during the crisis. Also included is Dorothea Morefield's personal diary she kept while Richard was held hostage. Other material includes newspapers, press clippings, magazines, photographs, videos, cassette tapes, and artifacts. The artifacts consist mainly of gifts given to Richard Morefield by the federal government and California state and local governments.
